Turkey, Iran and Iran Purchase New Combat Weapons from Russian Companies

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, BEIRUT – Turkey has reached an agreement with a Russian company for the delivery of the second phase the S-400 missile system.

This development was announced by Rosoboronexport, Russia’s largest arms industry, Sunday (23/8/2020). The memorandum of understanding has been pressured by Moscow and Ankara.

Related to purchases the S-400 missile system by Turkey, this contract is the result of Turkey’s failure to acquire F-35 fighter jets from the US.

Turkey countered the opposition by moving to Russia for an air defense missile system. The first stage the S-400 missile system has been installed in Turkey.

As a member of NATO, Turkey has violated provisions not to buy weapons from Russia, which it considers an enemy of the bloc.

“The contract has been signed, and we are discussing with our partners the method of financial payment for the implementation of this contract,” said Rosoboronexport official Alexander Mikheyev.

The chairman of Turkey’s Defense Industry Council, Ismail Demir, confirmed Moscow and Ankara had reached an agreement in principle on the second phase of supplies the S-400 missile system.
