Turkey again allows Dutch travelers without restrictions NOW

Turkey will again allow Dutch people to enter the country without restrictions. People who arrive in Turkey no longer have to go to a mandatory two-week home quarantine, the Turkish embassy in the Netherlands reports Friday.

The air connection between Turkey and the Netherlands has been open again since Thursday. Travelers are obliged to wear a mask on board.

People who land in Turkey are also tested for symptoms. Positive tested travelers are treated in the country. The borders with other countries are also reopening, with the exception of Iran.

Turkey had been cut off from the rest of the world for almost three months since mid-March to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

On Friday, the number of new corona cases per day was above 1,000 for the first time since May 29, the Turkish Ministry of Health reported. The relaxation of travel measures may have played a role in this.

Foreign Affairs continues to advise against traveling to Turkey

The travel advice from the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs remains orange, which means that unnecessary trips are not recommended. Nor will the Dutch government assist in repatriation if the country unexpectedly has to be locked again as a result of COVID-19.

Tourism is very important to the Turkish economy. More than 50 million tourists visited the country last year, of which more than a million are Dutch. The seaside resorts along the Turkish Riviera are particularly popular with Dutch tourists.

In Turkey, 174,023 corona cases have been reported so far, mainly in the major cities of Istanbul and Ankara. 4,763 people died from the effects of the virus.
