TUI brings all five aviation subsidiaries under one management

Essential parts are merged into specialized departments. “During the restructuring, we adjusted our fleet size and bundled flight operations. We are well prepared for the time after the pandemic.” The plans for the merger were already announced last year announced, and Ciomperlik now confirms that they are continuing.

The five TUI airlines have a total of 140 aircraft. The five worked together in a number of areas, but for the most part the five Air Operator Certificate holders (AOCs) operated separately from each other. That’s going to change. There was already a very intensive collaboration between the Dutch and Belgian branches: TUI fly Netherlands and TUI fly Belgium have been under one management for several years.

“The individual AOCs will be kept as we need them for flight operations. Our brands also remain, they are located in the different countries,” says Oliver Lackmann, head of the German TUI fly and Chief Flight Operation Officer responsible for all five AOCs.

Lackmann mentions the control of daily flight operations as an example. “In the future, we will have our air traffic control center in Luton, for all our airlines.” Also, not all five airlines need to have a spare aircraft ready, but one to two aircraft will be able to be kept on standby.

CEO Ciomperlik says the measure was not taken to ‘save hundreds of thousands of euros, but to make our business operations less complex’.

The merger does not appear to have any consequences for the operations here. When asked, spokesperson Anke van Nieuwenhuizen told this site: “Nothing will change for travelers who fly with TUI fly Netherlands.”
