Proponents argue that such research is crucial for preventing future pandemics and developing effective vaccines. However, critics contend that the potential risks, including accidental releases, outweigh the benefits.

COVID-19 origins and the Wuhan Lab

The Trump administration has explicitly linked these research practices to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite ongoing debate within the scientific community, the administration asserts that the SARS-CoV-2 virus originated from “gain of function” research funded, in part, by the United States and conducted at the wuhan institute of Virology in China. This lab is located in Wuhan,the city where the first cases of COVID-19 were identified.

More than five years after the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, the scientific community remains divided on the virus’s origins. The virus has caused an estimated seven million deaths worldwide, including one million in the United States. Two primary hypotheses persist: natural emergence and laboratory leak.

This nightmare is probably the result of a few scientists who have manipulated mother nature in a laboratory with exported technology in the United States.

The White House has reinforced its focus on the lab leak theory by transforming its official information platform on the pandemic into a website dedicated to this hypothesis. The site claims that the virus has a biological characteristic that is not found in nature.

Targeting China and “Accidental Leaks”

The new measures specifically identify China as a country where “gain of function” research will no longer recieve U.S. funding, citing concerns about oversight. Robert Kennedy Jr., the minister of health, emphasized the need to prevent accidental leaks, stating on X, There is no laboratory that is sheltered from leaks – and this will prevent accidental leaks from happening in the future and endanger humanity.

kennedy Jr. further accused Anthony Fauci, a prominent American infectious disease expert who advised multiple administrations, including Trump’s, of having revived the race for organic arms that Richard Nixon had ended in 1969.According to Kennedy Jr., Fauci acted under the pretext of developing vaccines, finally moving his experiences abroad, mainly in the Wuhan Laboratory.
