Trump wants approval for experimental corona drug soon Abroad

Remdesivir is an experimental Gilead Sciences agent against the coronavirus. Initial results from a study of the drug’s effectiveness by the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) suggest that remdesivir helps restore corona patients faster than normal care.

The FDA is currently in talks with the drug manufacturer to make the drug readily available to patients, said Anthony Fauci, head of NIAID and one of the chief advisers to President Donald Trump in the corona crisis on Wednesday. Trump himself said he wanted to speed up the approval process. “We want very fast approvals,” he said at a news conference.
