Trump takes away nearly 10,000 military personnel from Germany Abroad

Trump threatened to cut back troops last year through ambassador to Berlin Richard Grenell because Washington believes Germany is spending too little on defense. The NATO standard is 2 percent of the gross domestic product. The German budget will rise to one and a half percent in the coming years.

National Security Council spokesman John Ullyot declined to confirm to the German news agency DPA on Friday evening the report of the troop reduction first brought up by The Wall Street Journal. He just said that Trump is constantly reviewing the deployment of US soldiers abroad. According to him, the US would like to continue to cooperate with closely connected Germans.
