Trump star in Hollywood painted black during demonstration

The star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame dedicated to the President of the United States, Donald Trump, appeared in black after the big demonstration against police violence that swept through Los Angeles on Sunday.

According to news agency EFE, this is not the first time that this star dedicated to Donald Trump, inaugurated in 2007, when the now president of the United States was working on television, is damaged.

In 2016 and 2018 it was broken with a hammer and many times it was painted and damaged with nails.

As it was possible to follow through social networks, the disappearance of the star on the tour was happening gradually during the protest. First with the name crossed out, then with written insults and finally completely covered with black ink and with the abbreviations ‘BLM’ [Black Lives Matter, As vidas negras importam].

One of the protesters placed dog droppings on the destroyed symbol, in an image that went viral.

According to local media, the Los Angeles police department had not yet received any complaints due to those actions.

Also the entity that manages the “Walk of Fame”, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, has not yet commented, despite having done so in other similar situations with the star of the President of the United States.

On Sunday, Hollywood was the scene of a huge peaceful protest against police violence and in memory of African Americans killed by the police in recent years.

George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American, died on May 25 in Minneapolis (Minnesota) after a police officer kneeled him in the neck for about eight minutes in a detention operation, despite Floyd saying that I couldn’t breathe.

Since the images were posted on social media, protests against police violence and racism have taken place in dozens of American cities, some of which have been the scene of looting.

The four policemen involved were fired, and Agent Derek Chauvin, who put his knee on Floyd’s neck, was charged with second-degree murder, risking a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.

The rest will respond for assistance and complicity in second-degree murder and involuntary homicide.

Floyd’s death occurred during his detention on suspicion of using a counterfeit $ 20 (18 euro) bill in a store.
