Trump Spends Christmas in Florida Before Second Term Begins – World

The outgoing President of the United States, Republican Donald Trump, will spend his last term in Palm Beach, Florida, and said he will rest for a few days “before the second term begins.”

It is Trump’s last Christmas as a tenant of the White House and the outgoing head of state chose the mansion built in the late 1920s in Palm Beach – and which he called “Mar-a-Lago” after the 2016 presidential victory – to spend Christmas with the family.

The Republican is expected to receive a great reception when he lands in Florida, CBS reports, since the President of the United States of America (USA) himself asked to be welcomed with affection “while enjoying a dozen days of vacation” in his winter residence “before the start of the second term”.

Trump’s message keeps the gap with reality evident. With less than a month to leave the White House, the outgoing President remains unaware of Democrat Joe Biden’s victory in the November 3 presidential election and maintains the thesis of electoral fraud.

It should be recalled that President-elect Biden’s victory has already been ratified by the Electoral College – he obtained the same 306 large voters that Trump won four years ago.

Still, Trump, who is largely isolated on the groundless charges, maintains allegations of electoral fraud, whose blame is allegedly attributed to a Democratic conspiracy.

All of the lawsuits that the President and his candidacy have filed in the US courts have been rejected for lack of evidence and even the Senate Republican majority leader Mitch McConnell has already congratulated Biden on the victory.

McConnell only did so after the victory by the Electoral College was confirmed. Before that, he remained at Trump’s side as one of the voices that proclaimed the lies of electoral fraud.

However much evidence is presented, Trump prefers to maintain a speech that echoes, in particular, among Florida supporters.

Florida is one of Trump’s ‘unshakable’ states. The still US head of state won the victory in this typically republican state, in 2016 (48.6%), against Democrat Hillary Clinton, and in 2020 (51.2%), against also Democrat Joe Biden – who ended up for winning national elections.

This property, in Palm Beach, has been the President’s personal residence since 2019 for legal purposes (formerly the Trump Tower of New York).

Trump’s time at “Mar-a-Lago” has often been remembered for his time playing golf.

And despite the pandemic and the measures enacted in various parts of the country to curb the spread of SARS-CoV-2, Trump maintains the party that was scheduled for these days in Mar-a-Lago, reports the Palm Beach Post.

However, this may not be Donald Trump’s permanent residence for much longer. Reginald G. Staumbach, a lawyer from that region, claimed this week on behalf of a client, who did not identify, that Trump lost the right to reside on that property in 1993 after an agreement with local authorities on the use of the mansion, erected in a 7.2 hectares of land.

This agreement allegedly stipulates that in exchange for keeping the mansion built nearly 100 years ago, Trump would have to convert it into a private club, but members of this club could not stay more than 21 consecutive days living in it.

In addition, the daily Miami Herald reports that in 2002 Trump made an agreement with the non-governmental organization (NGO) National Trust for Historic Preservation (National Fund for Historical Preservation) in which it was made explicit that, by lowering taxes who would pay for the property, Trump would forgo the right to use it “for purposes other than the club’s.”
