Donald Trump has returned to his native New York, AFP reported, quoted by BTA. This is his first visit there since he left the White House.
The former US president, who now lives in Mar a Lago, Florida, but has kept a luxury three-story apartment on top of the Trump Tower in New York, was spotted briefly on arrival late last night. This afternoon, twenty of his supporters demonstrated peacefully at the foot of the skyscraper, surrounded by dozens of police officers. Some carried placards that read, “We love Trump,” while others unfurled a large flag that read, “Trump 2024,” targeting the next presidential election.
For now, Trump’s return to New York is discreet. There is no official announcement about his program in the city, the duration of the visit and its purpose. Secret Service – the service responsible for security and the former presidents, has not yet disseminated any information.
Opponents of Trump say he may have had some lawsuits during his time in New York. The Manhattan prosecutor and the New York state prosecutor are investigating Trump in parallel on suspicion of bank, tax and / or insurance fraud. In late February, after a long court battle, the Manhattan prosecutor said he had finally received Trump’s income tax returns for the past eight years.
So far no one knows when the investigation will end and whether Trump will be formally charged.
