‘Trump paid no income tax for ten years’ | NOW

US President Donald Trump has not paid income tax for at least ten years in the past fifteen years, according to his tax return that The New York Times got hold of.

The American newspaper has gained insight into the tax return data of the American president for the past twenty years.

The documents show, among other things, that Trump would have paid only $ 750 in income tax each year in 2016 and 2017. Trump would also not have paid income tax for ten years because he would have indicated that he had earned too little. Trump belongs to one of the richest residents of the United States.

Trump has been trying to avoid sharing his tax returns for years, while pledging to make them public during the 2016 presidential election. Presidents usually always release this data, according to an old tradition.

The Democrats suspect that Trump wants to withhold details about his personal assets and possible conflicts with business partners caused by his presidency.

In July The US Supreme Court ruled that Trump should release his financial records, including his tax returns, to the New York City Attorney because of a hush money lawsuit. This information would not be shared with the House of Representatives.
