Trump Meets with Republican Congressmen to Plan How to Flip the House in 2022 | Donald Trump | Congress | GOP

About a dozen House Republicans met with former President Donald Trump this week to go over the border crisis and how the GOP plans to turn over the lower house in 2022.

Leaders of the Republican Study Committee, which calls itself the largest conservative group in the House, traveled to Florida to meet with the former president.

The committee said the meeting included a discussion on “the challenges facing our nation.”

“From securing our border to fighting rising inflation and deficits, the #RSC is fighting for working families. Thank you President Trump, for developing an agenda that puts Americans first! ”Said the Republican Studies Committee (RSC), sharing photos of Trump with members.

“Last night was a great meeting with President Trump to discuss a series of conservative priorities. From border security and electoral integrity to inflation and beyond, ”said Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.).

Most of the nearly two hour meeting was about the work the panel is doing to fight for what Representative Jim Banks (R-Ind.), Chair of the committee, described to the New York Post as “the Trump agenda.”

“We talked about our electoral integrity bill, The Save Democracy Act, which he was very supportive of, and we talked about what we have done to determine the future immigration movement,” Banks said.

In the 2020 presidential election, Republicans traded 15 House seats, mostly from Democrats. The Republican Party remains in the minority, with a deficit of eight seats, but is confident that it can regain control of the chamber in the 2022 midterm elections, although Democrats believe they will maintain control.

“We believe that we will regain the majority by focusing on the Trump agenda, and President Trump plays a big role in that,” Banks said. “Obviously he is planning to go out and campaign for candidates who share our vision and we were excited to talk to him about that.”

“We reached an understanding with broad unity within the Republican Study Committee, recognizing that Trump’s agenda is the winning agenda, we will regain the majority on the 22nd and the White House in 2024, so the Republicans will be able to present themselves with the agenda. of Trump ”, added Banks to Breitbart News, explaining that the platform includes harsh immigration policies, legislation to curb big tech companies, and electoral integrity bills like the Save Democracy Act.

Trump did not publicly comment on the meeting, nor did his spokesman, Jason Miller. After staying largely out of the spotlight after leaving the presidency, Trump will soon be more visible with his strong opposition to the agenda of President Joe Biden and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California), he said. Banks.

“He feels he has a duty to get back out there and hold on, hold the rallies, engage with the American people and speak up on how disastrous the Biden-Pelosi agenda is for our country,” he said. “So I think we’re going to see (…) we’re going to see a lot more of him and I think that’s good for Republicans. It’s good for (…) it’s good for the United States ”.
