According to the Los Angeles Supreme Court ruling, Daniels had won her lawsuit against Trump over the deal. The agreement was signed 11 days before the 2016 presidential election. Part of the agreement was a clause that the losing party would pay the court costs.
It was Trump’s lawyer at the time, Michael Cohen, who paid $ 130,000 to Daniels after filing a complaint against Trump under her real name Stephanie Clifford. After Trump was elected, Daniels launched a case to annul the agreement.
Trump and his supporters denied for years that hush money was paid, until Trump admitted on Twitter in May 2018 that money had been paid and that he had repaid Cohen the sum it had given to Daniels.
