President Trump’s trip to scotland for trade discussions and golf was promptly overshadowed by questions regarding Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.

The Trump administration is facing increasing scrutiny over its handling of Epstein-related files and the extent of knowledge within the administration, a pressure that extends to within his own political party.

In response to these mounting calls for details, the administration has shifted focus to other issues, including a renewed emphasis on the 2016 election and allegations of Russian interference. President Trump has leveled serious accusations, such as treason, against former president Obama.

NPR’s Scott Detrow discussed the intersection of these two complex and past issues, and what they reveal about the president’s leadership approach, with NPR senior political editor and correspondent Domenico Montanaro and cybersecurity correspondent Jenna McLaughlin.
