Ex president United States of America, Donald Trump, accused one White House official during the administration of his predecessor, Barack Obama, of leaking technology hypersonic missile ke China.
Trump suspects that China is building hypersonic missiles using technology stolen from the United States during the Obama administration through Russia.
“I know that, I started it. So Russia started (developed hypersonic missiles) after they got the information from the US,” Trump said during a guest appearance on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Wednesday this week.
Trump made the claim when asked by Hewitt about his comments about China’s success in making hypersonic missile technology.
“You don’t know that somebody gave them (Russia) during the Obama administration, everything we have about hypersonics. And Russia did it, and I pursued the (US missile) program,” Trump said.
Trump then went on to say that if Russia “gets” the missile technology, then China might get it from Russia too.
“Because I doubt they (China) managed to build the missile technology themselves. They probably got it from Russia, maybe from the evil spies that are in the US,” Trump said.
Trump claims that since he took office as president, the US has caught up with Russia and China in terms of hypersonic missile technology.
The Republican politician continued to stress that Russia allegedly received information about hypersonic missiles from the US and Moscow has since developed its own missile program.
“They (Russia) did it, and Obama didn’t,” Trump was quoted as saying Sputnik.
Trump acknowledged that he currently has no information about the Biden administration’s approach to developing this hypersonic missile.
However, it is still unclear whether the classified data was allegedly stolen while Obama was in office. Trump also did not provide additional details about his claims.
Earlier this week, a US Space Force general, General David Thompson, acknowledged China was developing its space and hypersonic capabilities “at twice that” of the US.
The US Space Force is a military unit created during the Trump administration.
Thompson also acknowledged that in the next decade China’s missile capabilities could surpass those of the US.
Hypersonic missiles travel so close to the planet’s surface that radar can hardly detect them.
According to Western media reports, China has already carried out a hypersonic missile test circling the world.
Both the US and Russia have been developing hypersonic weapons in recent years. Several US Defense Department officials have suggested China’s efforts show its technology is far more advanced than Moscow or Washington’s.
In addition, Trump gave a vague answer about whether Joe Biden or US Vice President, Kamala Harris, were “hard” enough to confront Russia and China.
“I think you know the answer. And it’s not just a tough question. I know a lot of tough stupid people. I know a lot of stupid people but not tough enough, and I know a lot of stupid people who are honestly very tough. That’s the most dangerous, actually, ” Trump said.
During the event, he also discussed world leaders, domestic political agendas, past and upcoming elections, and negotiations on the Iran nuclear deal.
