Troy Men’s Tennis Splits Competitors Across Georgia State and Jacksonville State Tournaments
ATLANTA, Ga. & JACKSONVILLE,Fla. – The Troy men’s tennis team demonstrated a strong start to its weekend,competing in both the Georgia State Tournament in atlanta and the Jacksonville State Tournament in jacksonville on September 22-24. The Trojans secured individual victories and doubles matchups while facing opponents from North Florida,Chattanooga,Georgia State,Jacksonville State,and Presbyterian.
The team’s performance across the two locations highlights Troy’s depth and adaptability as they navigate the early fall season. These tournaments serve as crucial preparation for the upcoming spring dual match schedule, allowing players to gain competitive experience and refine their skills against a diverse range of opponents. Results from these events will inform coaching decisions regarding lineup adjustments and individual player development plans.
In Atlanta, Joao Portugal of North Florida defeated Louis Boilevin of Troy in a closely contested match, 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (8-6). Martin Delnido of Chattanooga bested Stephan Tavares Noale of Troy, 6-4, 6-4. However, Thiago Drozdowski delivered a win for the Trojans, defeating Carter Ramthun of Chattanooga, 6-2, 6-2.
At the Jacksonville state Tournament,Stephan Tavares Noale and Henrique de Brito secured a doubles victory over Yuva Pavuluri and Sota Minami of Georgia State,6-2. The duo later faced defeats against Jacksonville State’s Zach Murphy and Lucius Soller (6-4) and Charlie Penman and Alin Fatu (6-4). Drozdowski and Boilevin also experienced losses in doubles play, falling to Jacksonville State’s Penman and Fatu (6-4) and Presbyterian’s Dario Navarro and Daksh Prasad (6-4).
