TRM Labs Appoints Former Australian Border Force Commissioner as Strategic Advisor for APAC
Canberra, Australia – November 25, 2025 – TRM Labs, a leading provider of Blockchain Intelligence, today announced the appointment of Michael Outram APM, former Commissioner of the Australian Border Force (ABF) and Comptroller General of Customs, as Strategic Advisor for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This appointment underscores TRM Labs’ dedication to bolstering partnerships and safeguarding global trade and financial systems.
Outram brings over four decades of experience in law enforcement, national security, and border management to TRM Labs. During his tenure as Commissioner of the ABF, he spearheaded improvements in intelligence-led operations, fostered stronger international cooperation, and integrated advanced technology into border security protocols.He also served as President of the APAC region of the World Customs Institution, leading global efforts against illicit trade and trade-based money laundering through innovative data-sharing initiatives between governments and industry.
In his new role, Outram will advise TRM Labs’ executive team on strengthening relationships with government agencies, law enforcement, and industry partners throughout the APAC region, solidifying the company’s commitment to the area as a crucial front in the global fight against illicit finance.

Throughout his seven years leading the ABF,Outram oversaw a team of 5,500 law enforcement officers responsible for protecting 37,000 kilometers of coastline,10 million square kilometers of maritime territory,and nearly A$1 trillion in annual bilateral trade,alongside managing international travel and immigration enforcement. Prior to the ABF, he served as Deputy Commissioner of the Australian Federal Police, overseeing national protection, major event security (including the 2014 G20 Brisbane Summit), and international investigations, such as the inquiry into Malaysia Airlines Flight 17. Outram began his career with the London Metropolitan Police in 2002 and was awarded the Australian Police medal for distinguished service in 2014.
Outram’s appointment comes at a time of increasing demand for intelligence solutions that help governments and the private sector detect, investigate, and prevent cryptocurrency-related crimes across borders.
