The judge, Stefan Bürgelin, said on Wednesday that the young woman should be asked about her current situation and the consequences. She will be switched on by video, her statement is likely to be made in camera. The statement is scheduled for June 24. The 18-year-old at the time of the crime testified for the first time in July last year. Even then the public was excluded from the court for the protection of personal rights.
In the trial at the Freiburg Regional Court, eleven men between the ages of 18 and 30 are accused of rape or failure to provide assistance. Most of them are refugees. They are accused of raping the 18-year-old in a bush in front of a disco in the middle of October 2018, or of not helping her. You deny this or remain silent on the allegations.
On Wednesday, a psychiatric assessor testified in court. He examined five of the accused. According to the court, these spoke to him about her person, some of them also about the allegations. At the request of those affected, the appraiser testified in camera. This served to protect personal rights, the court justified the decision.
It was the 35th day in the criminal trial that started in late June last year. It is to be continued in early June. The court expects judgments by the end of July (file number 6 KLs 181 Js 1138/19 AK 2/19 and 6 KLs 181 Js 35640/18 AK 3/19).
