The pandemic no longer scares travelers when planning their next vacation. However, his concerns are focused on other aspects such as terrorism and social unrest.

According to the Global Rescue Winter 2023 Traveler Sentiment and Safety Survey, since August 2022 Covid apprehension has decreased to its current rate of 13% compared to 33% at the end of last summer.

Meanwhile, concerns about civil unrest and terrorism have nearly doubled in the past six months, jumping from 8% in late summer 2022 to 14% today.

“The concern is somewhat justified, as social unrest and protests are occurring at an increasing level,” said Andrew Jernigan, chief executive of Insured Nomads, a company that sells insurance for travelers, remote workers, expatriates and businesses. Travel Pulse.

“We are gaining members, both group and corporate, family and individual, due to the increased level of concern expressed.”

Beyond civil unrest, it appears that the biggest anxiety among world travelers is injury or illness (non-Covid related) while traveling.

Additional concerns include trip cancellations (12%), thefts (4%), natural disasters (3%), and nuclear attacks (less than 1%).

When it comes to traveling internationally, travelers are concerned about the safety of hotels and accommodations (25%) and the safety of car and taxi service (10%). However, other travelers are concerned about whether a destination is safe for families (15%) and if it poses any risks specifically for women (11%).

Meanwhile, 10% of travelers want to know if they will need physical protection at a particular destination. And the perennial concern about identity theft and cybersecurity also keeps travelers on their toes with 9% expressing concern about this topic.
