Transform or liquidate the automotive industry?

For almost 10 years, the French and European automotive industry has been subject to profound changes.

The challenges of climate change and the reduction of CO2 emissions are today shared by all stakeholders, car manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, trade union organizations, the population, etc.

This industry concerns 600,000 jobs in France (compared to 1 million in 2010) and 13 million in Europe. But the transformation of the industry cannot be done through taxes, taxes and standards that change every two years.

Today it is the immediate abandonment of diesel technology that is requested by MEP Yannick JADOT (France 2 statement Thursday April 23, 2020) in return for European and French aid to the automotive industry. This represents 30,000 direct jobs in France and nearly 90,000 employees.

However, the latest generation diesel technology emits fewer particles of nitrogen (Nox) and carbon monoxide (CO2).

Studies conducted and published a year ago by the European Automobile Manufacturers Association have demonstrated this through more than 180 comparative tests.

The transition to electric vehicles will still take time both for technological reasons: cost and recycling of batteries, and the installation of charging stations in all municipalities …

To date, this is only one possible solution for metropolitan areas!

Two European manufacturers, MERCEDES and AUDI in Germany finalize a NEW hybrid vehicle from the
latest diesel technology “MILD HYBRID”.

Unless they want to revive the “yellow vests” movement in France by returning to a policy of taxes and coercive measures, the public authorities must help the automotive sector by setting a course (zero carbon emissions in 2030).

It is up to manufacturers to offer technological choices and to dealers to promote them so that consumers can make their choices and therefore their choices.

The next world must also, first and foremost, respect the employees concerned and the companies that produce the essential wealth to defend living together in all territories and to redress our country. In Occitania, the sector represents 2,000 jobs which support 6000 in Aveyron.

It is also on this condition that we will make our country attractive to recreate production activities in employment areas.
