The Guardians 2021 tournament will start next Friday and although there are some squads that already have their squads defined, there are others that are still in search of reinforcement. According to article 31 of the Liga MX Competition Regulations, the closing of registrations for the national market expired on January 1.
However, it should be remembered that, a couple of years ago, an addition to the regulation was approved that opens the possibility that clubs can register up to four more players outside the deadline (in this case, January 1) as long as they have played in Mexican soccer the season prior to their new registration.
Another condition for these “untimely” registrations is that the player has not played a minute of the current tournament, participated in any match of the current tournament.. In this way, the official closing day for Liga MX records is January 31.
Similarly, this same date is the limit that Liga MX clubs have to be able to register soccer players who were in a different association (born in Mexico or foreigners) in the last tournament.
