Transdev adheres to the ″ lay-off ″ system

Transport company Transdev announced that it will join the simplified lay-off system on Wednesday due to revenue shortfall following the Covid-19 pandemic, and that this decision will cover about 2000 workers.

According to a statement released this Tuesday, Transdev reports that the “restrictions imposed on mobility” as a measure to mitigate the disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, “caused the almost total reduction of activity” of this company , which “translated into a 90% drop in revenue”.

For this reason, Transdev will enter “the simplified lay-off system under the conditions provided for” by the Government, starting on Wednesday, April 1, and adherence to this program “covers the group’s approximately 2000 employees of Transdev companies “.

The simplified lay-off allows the temporary reduction of the normal working period or the suspension of the employment contract.

Companies that adhere to this system can suspend employment contracts or reduce the hours of workers who, in turn, are entitled to receive two thirds of the normal net remuneration – 70% supported by Social Security and 30% by the company.

This is one of the exceptional measures approved by the Government to maintain jobs, in the context of the crisis caused by the pandemic.

The note from Transdev stresses that it will keep the services to a minimum, that “they will be ensured by the number of employees needed” in each region, and that they will also maintain the measures dictated by the Mobility and Transport Authority and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) to protect customers and workers.

The transport company also warned that “the most relevant and immediate measure is the payment of the nine million euros that the State “owes Transdev, in order to “secure the treasury and allow the payment of wages”.

Transdev also requests the “immediate suspension of all contractualization processes that are in progress, as well as the non-launch of any procedures aimed at contracting public service obligations”.
