Transatel Boosts Global IoT Connectivity with Oracle‘s 5G Core
global IoT connectivity provider Transatel, a subsidiary of NTT, is upgrading its network infrastructure with Oracle Communications’ cloud native 5G signaling core. This move aims to enhance the scalability, security, and reliability of connectivity for the millions of IoT devices Transatel supports through partnerships with over 300 mobile carriers worldwide.
The implementation will focus on key components of Oracle’s 5G Standalone (SA) core, enabling Transatel to deliver improved services for critical applications in sectors like connected vehicles,in-flight connectivity, and industrial automation. According to Jacques Bonifay, CEO of Transatel, Oracle’s solution was selected after a thorough review process due to its ability to meet current demands and provide a foundation for future connected services.
Transatel’s decision is driven by the increasing demand for robust connectivity as IoT adoption grows, particularly in the automotive and industrial spaces. The company sought a solution capable of securing connectivity for devices roaming across international networks and seamlessly integrating with its existing 3G/4G infrastructure.
Oracle’s cloud native 5G signaling core, incorporating technologies like the Service Communication Proxy (SCP), Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP), and network repository function (NRF), will allow Transatel to:
* Scale Network Capacity: Accommodate the growing number of connected devices, including large fleets of 5G-enabled vehicles.
* Expand Service Offerings: Introduce new 5G services leveraging 5G SA roaming for real-time applications.
* strengthen Security: Implement centralized routing, resilience, and security measures to protect the 5G core network and ensure secure, cost-effective service delivery.
* Future-Proof Operations: Maintain a fully interoperable platform capable of managing both 4G and 5G services continuously.
“Transatel’s adoption of 5G Standalone will drive innovation and unlock new opportunities for its customers,” stated Andrew Morawski, executive vice president and general manager, Oracle Regulated Industries. “Our cloud native 5G signaling core empowers Transatel to scale and secure high-performance services for connected devices globally.”
