Train Accident in Odisha: PM Modi and Amit Shah Offer Condolences, Over 500 Injured

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured all possible help in the train accident in Odisha. The Prime Minister informed that the situation is being assessed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he was saddened by the train accident in Odisha. ‘My thoughts are with the bereaved families at this sad time. May the injured get well soon. Spoke to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and took stock of the situation. Rescue operations are underway at the site of the accident and all possible assistance is being provided to the victims.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the train accident in Odisha as extremely painful. “The train accident at Balasore in Odisha is very painful. NDRF team has reached the accident spot and other teams are also reaching to join the rescue operation. Condolences to the families of the deceased and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said in a tweet.

The Coromandel Express met with an accident near Bahanaga station in Balasore district of Odisha around 7 pm today. About 12 coaches were derailed after colliding with the goods train. It is reported that more than 500 people were injured in the accident. 12 bogies of Coromandel Express derailed. There are also unconfirmed reports that several people died in the accident.
