Trailer David Bowie movie ‘Stardust’: the new ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’?

IFC Films has released the first trailer and poster of David Bowie-biopic Stardust, in which we are the relatively unknown actor Johnny Flynn as the striking artist and his alter ego Ziggy Stardust. You can check out both the trailer and the poster below.

The direction of Stardust is owned by Gabriel Range, who also co-wrote the script with Christopher Bell. The story begins in 1971, when 24-year-old David Bowie is sent to America for his latest record The Man Who Sold the World to sell. He leaves his pregnant wife Angie (Jena Malone) to go on a cobbled-together tour accompanied by Mercury Records publicist Rob Oberman (Marc Maron).

No music from Bowie …
What Stardust very disadvantageously distinguished from successful biopics like Bohemian Rhapsody in Rocketman, is that Bowie’s music should not be used in the movie. How they get around that in the film itself cannot really be traced back to the trailer. The film is expected in a limited number of cinemas and on VOD at the end of November.
