Dutch Cyclist: A Dutch participant succumbed to heart failure despite immediate medical intervention. According to a spokesperson for the event,
rapid help and resuscitation attempts
were made, but were unsuccessful. - French Cyclist: A French cyclist also died after becoming unwell during the race. He was resuscitated at the scene and airlifted to a local hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
