Traffic cop attacked while on duty in Brooklyn – NBC New York (47)

NEW YORK – The New York Police Department is looking for a man who ran over a policeman on a Brooklyn sidewalk on Monday.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:52 p.m. when the duty officer was issuing a parking citation to a vehicle parked off 1602 Avenue Z.

As he walked down the sidewalk, an unidentified man approached the traffic officer and pushed him to the ground, inflicting several blows on his head and body.

The suspect fled the scene in the ticketed vehicle to an unknown address, according to authorities.

Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported the officer to NYC Health and Hospitals/Coney Island in stable condition.

Police described the attacker, who can be seen in the video above, as approximately 5’9″ tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds and with short black hair.

The getaway vehicle was described as a 2022 Volkswagen GTI with NY registration plates KTV7675.
