Traffic conductor died after collision in Ål

The accident happened just after 8 pm on Monday night on national road 7 between Torpo and Ål.

– The collision took place in connection with road work where there has been manual routing. A traffic conductor has been hit and has died, says operations manager Erik Gunnerød in the Southeast police district to NTB.

The man’s relatives have been notified. The deceased is a resident of Vestfold, writes Hallingdølen.

– The road will be closed through the night until Tuesday morning. Police are questioning witnesses, including the driver of the car. He is charged with violating the Road Traffic Act section 3, which deals with you driving carefully and cautiously, Gunnerød says.

The accident group from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and forensic technicians from the police are on their way to Ål and will conduct investigations on the spot through the night.

There are signposts for passenger cars, but heavier vehicles must take a longer detour.
