Traffic concept protects residents from car noise – Polizei.news

Last weekend from April 16 to 18, 2021, the Zurich City Police implemented a new traffic concept in districts 1 and 8 for the first time. This had an effect and prevented excessive noise from “auto posers”.

The Zurich City Police found on the past weekends that on the late Friday and Saturday evenings “auto posers” circled around the lower lake basin with their vehicles. At times this was several hundred vehicles.

As a result, especially on Bellerivestrasse, there was stagnant column traffic with strong noise emissions in the form of horn concerts and high-revving engines. There were also increased noise complaints from residents.

On both Friday and Saturday evenings, April 16 and 17, 2021, the city police implemented a new traffic concept for the affected area. After 10 p.m., certain road sections were closed for around four hours and traffic was diverted. According to initial findings, the measures did not fail to have an effect and brought the desired calming down for the neighborhood on Bellerivestrasse. The Zurich City Police will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weekends, and if necessary reinstate blocking and diversion measures and carry out appropriate vehicle checks.

During the same period, employees of the traffic police carried out checks at well-known locations. This resulted in particular in the night from Saturday to Sunday, 17./18. April 2021, a major traffic control in the Mythenquai car park near the succulents collection

In total, the Zurich City Police seized four vehicles over the weekend which, due to technical modifications to the exhaust systems, were measuring too loud.
