S exports to Turkey from the Dominican Republicin 2021 they amounted to US$ 23,302,608, which represents a 39% increase compared to 2019 before the pandemic., according to the statistics office of that country.
Both countries’ trade has increased significantly in imports from Turkey, with the Dominican Republic being Latin America and the Caribbean’s fifth largest trading partner.
As regards the behavior of Turkish investments in the Dominican territory, it should be noted that it has grown and diversified with a presence in the sectors of tourism, real estate, free zones, energy, construction, medical services, among others.
The main products exported to Turkey from the Dominican Republic are: cocoa beans or cracked, pharmaceuticals, cattle hides, cigars, textile rags and non-vein tobacco, among others.
These data have been highlighted by Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana).
A delegation of ProDominican, led by its executive director, Biviana Riveiro Disla; and the Investment Manager, Zanony Severino, together with the Ambassador Elvis Alam, participated in a trade mission to Turkey with the aim of presenting and promoting the country’s export and investment opportunities.
During the mission to the cities of Istanbul, Bursa and Ankara, the leaders and members of the embassy participated in various plenary sessions and meetings with personalities from the governmental, commercial and business world of that nation to present the characteristics and commercial prospects of the Dominican Republic Republic, as the main recipient of investments and hub in the region.
Meetings include: Istanbul Metals and Minerals Companies Association (IMMIB), Türkiye DEIK Business Leadership Foreign Economic Relations Council, Istanbul Chamber of Industry, Taltisa Tourism Company, Chamber of industries of Ankara, the Investment Promotion Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Balkan Textile Group, Ministry of Industry and Technology, Ministry of Commerce, Honest Holding and Ministry of Interior, have also released the DR Investment Guide in Turkish language.
