Toyota has officially presented the updated Hilux and Fortuner for the Russian market. The technical characteristics of the models became known a few days ago after the publication of OTTS documents – then it turned out that frame SUVs get a more powerful motor.

Improved pickup Toyota Hilux will go on sale this August. The eighth generation of the model, which debuted in 2015, received a 2.8 liter diesel engine with 200 hp. (power increased by 23 hp, although four “forces” were removed for tax reasons for Russia).

The engine torque also increased by 50 Nm and reached 500 Nm, available from 1600 rpm. Toyota noted that it has achieved a reduction in fuel consumption. Also, engineers have worked on the suspension. They changed the spring rate in the front suspension, re-tuned the shock absorbers and redesigned the rubber elements of the rear suspension.

It is noted that the car has become more comfortable when driving without loading, reacts better to steering movements and got rid of unwanted vibrations and squeaks. Also “Hilux” received a new power steering pump with variable displacement from the Land Cruiser Prado.

In the Standard and Comfort trim levels, the Hilux features a trapezoidal radiator grille, a new wide bumper, redesigned headlights, taillights and 17-inch alloy wheels. The basic version includes a redesigned instrument panel with a 4.2-inch color screen.

“Comfort” is complemented by LED fog lights, an 8-inch multimedia system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, voice control and the ability to play files from a smartphone and external sources, as well as front and rear parking sensors.

The top version will be called Hilux Black Onyx. It features a redesigned C-shaped front bumper, specially shaped fog lights, an aggressive grille and black fender flares. Other elements, such as door handles, will also be painted in this color. Tinted lights and 18-inch wheels complete the look.

The interior will have a trim corresponding to the name of the complete set. The list of equipment will also include climate control, automatic windows, 6-way power adjustment of the driver’s seat, button start, downhill assist, navigation with maps in Russian and other options.

Prices for the updated Toyota Hilux begin from 2,472,000 rubles. The basic version of the pickup has risen in price by 90 thousand rubles.

Toyota fortuner will be updated in two stages. First, the changes will affect the “Standard” and “Comfort” configurations with a 2.7 liter petrol engine. And in the fall of 2020, versions with a diesel engine will be upgraded – the company explained this by production restrictions.

The updated SUV features a wider radiator grille of a new shape, new front and rear bumpers, re-positioned fog lights, parking lights and direction indicators. The design update also touched on the shape of the headlamps, which are all LED, and the taillights.

These changes did not affect the overall dimensions – the ground clearance remained at 225 mm, and the entry and exit angles were 29 and 25 degrees, respectively.

The Fortuner has received two new exterior colors – navy blue and bright red metallic, while the interior is available in beige or black, improved materials, and metal-painted design elements of the front fascia.

The basic version of the petrol Toyota Fortuner includes LED high and low beam headlights with automatic adjustment, and the Comfort package is complemented by front and rear parking sensors, cruise control and a multimedia system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and an 8-inch screen.

Updated Toyota fortuner available for order from 2,436,000 rubles – this is 130 thousand rubles more than the version of the last model year.
