Toyota Drives into China’s EV Market with BZ7, Powered by Huawei & Xiaomi Tech
Shanghai, China – Toyota is accelerating its electric vehicle strategy with the launch of the BZ7 sedan in China, a model uniquely positioned through strategic partnerships with technology giants Huawei and Xiaomi. The new vehicle, developed through the GAC-Toyota joint venture, signals Toyota’s commitment to competing in the rapidly expanding Asian electric car market.
The BZ7 boasts a Fastback design, a closed front grille reflecting its all-electric powertrain, and distinctive C-shaped headlights. Measuring 5,130 mm in length, 1,965 mm in width, and 1,506 mm in height, with a 3,020 mm wheelbase and a weight of 2,275 kg, the sedan aims to blend spaciousness with modern aesthetics. It rides on 21-inch wheels fitted with 255/40R21 tires.
Central to the BZ7’s appeal is its integration of cutting-edge technology. A lidar sensor mounted on the roof will support the Momenta driving assistance system, enhancing safety and autonomous driving capabilities. beyond this, Toyota has forged a collaborative ecosystem with Huawei, Momenta, and Xiaomi, allowing the BZ7 to seamlessly integrate into Xiaomi’s “Human X Car X Home” ecosystem. This connectivity enables users to interact with smart home devices and personal electronics directly through the vehicle’s infotainment system.
The BZ7 will be powered by an electric motor supplied by Huawei, delivering a maximum output of 207 kW (281 HP), and utilizing a Calb-Tech LFP battery. While specific battery capacity and range details remain undisclosed, Toyota anticipates a full reveal by the end of the year.
Inside, the BZ7 features a contemporary cabin design, incorporating a three-spoke steering wheel, a digital instrument panel, a central infotainment display, and ambient lighting. Wireless smartphone charging is also included.
Toyota’s move underscores the intensifying competition within China’s EV sector, where domestic manufacturers are rapidly gaining ground.
