Town planning. The course of Rome dressed for spring

Unlike the magnificent Cours Saleya in Nice or the verdant Cours Mirabeau in Aix-en-Provence, the Cours de Rome in Thionville may not mean anything to you. However, this small urban boulevard gave its name to the first city to emerge from the earth in Thionville, in the 1960s. Located at the corner of the route de la Briquerie and the avenue De-Guise, it totals a dozen collectives. Its appearance has aged despite successive rehabilitations.

For some time now, it has been the roadway and the general environment that have been doing the job and giving this micro-neighborhood an image that the inhabitants would do well.

Rehabilitation of public space

Today, the course of Rome is at a turning point: the City has given the green light to undertake a series of works which should change the living environment. Not simple patches, as has already been the case, no. A real rehabilitation of the public space with removal of overhead networks, replacement of public lighting, reorganization of parking, repair of the roadway and sidewalks. The Portes de France agglomeration community will participate with burying garbage containers. In the end, the invoice exceeds € 471,000. Work is just starting; there are for a few months.

A demolished building

The multiple donors (three social landlords including the OPH and three private trustees) also gathered around the table and made a financial contribution of around 20%. A bit like what happened in the Médoc district a short time ago.

In line with the project, and also at the same time, the lessor In’Li proceeded with the demolition of one of its buildings. Visible from the route de la Briquerie, it no longer met any standard. Emptied of its inhabitants for a while, it has been reduced to rubble. A great off-season cleaning.
