Town Clerk Reports Fraud After Falling for Dubious Online Loan Offer

Police station Nienburg / Schaumburg

Stadthagen

(bae) On June 2nd, 2023, a 40-year-old town clerk reported fraud. Here’s what happened to the man. He was messaged on Facebook by an unknown woman. She offered him a loan. The general conditions would have been perfect. With a term of 24 months, at 2% interest. Since he first thought of fraud, the ladies sent him a photo of an ID card. In addition, there was intensive contact over a long period of time. At some point he was convinced and signed a contract. In total, the injured party made payments of 1070 euros. When his loan was not released despite the required payments, he became suspicious. The Stadthäger then went to his house bank. Here he was informed that he had fallen for a scam. On the part of the Police Council, be careful. If someone offers you a loan on the Internet without being asked, it is usually a dubious offer. If the conditions then differ significantly from those usual on the market, waive the loan.
