Tourists are fleeing Croatia. Many hours are formed at the borders

The worst situation is at the border between Slovenia and Austria, which has introduced border controls in response to the risk of coronavirus infection. Everyone who comes to the country is recorded by the police, even if they are just passing through the country.

The Austrian authorities thus eased strict measures on Sunday morning to help clear the blocked border crossings. “The patrols only carry out random inspections of some vehicles,” said the Austrian station ORF. Even so, passengers will stay at the border for several hours.

Slovenian-Croatian border

The situation on the border between Slovenia and Croatia in Sunday morning was not yet different from normal traffic. However, according to the Total Slovenia News (TSN) server, the situation can be expected to deteriorate on Sunday evening and especially on Monday, when Slovenian tourists will have the last chance to leave Croatia without having to undergo a fortnight’s quarantine.

Police data from the border crossings with Croatia show that mostly people from Germany and the Czech Republic pass through Slovenia,” informs TSN. The busiest crossings are traditionally Dragonja in the southwest and Gruškovje in the southeast of Slovenia.

Ministry recommendation

The Czech Ministry of Health has previously recommended to tourists returning to the country from Croatia to be cautious, to avoid mass events after arriving in the Czech Republic, and to keep safe distances from other people.

They should also monitor their condition and contact a doctor immediately by phone if they experience any symptoms consistent with coronavirus infection. The Ministry also recommends strict adherence to hygienic measures, ie frequent hand washing and the use of disinfectants and disposable handkerchiefs.
