Tour operators refund corona test for travelers to G …

Tour operators TUI and Sunweb are now reimbursing the corona test of customers who go to Greece, De Tijd reports. From Monday, Belgian travelers must be able to present a negative test on arrival.

“A corona test costs 47 euros each,” said Sunweb spokesman Tim Van den Bergh. “For a family of five that costs almost 250 euros extra. For some, that may be a reason not to travel. ” The spokesperson added that the same measure also applies to customers going to Cyprus and Madeira, Portugal.

Competitor TUI also reimburses the corona test for customers who have booked a package holiday to Greece and also offers an exchange guarantee up to one day before departure. “The test results may not be older than 72 hours. Anyone who leaves on Monday can therefore only take action on Friday, ”said spokesman Piet Demeyere. “That can cause stress and we don’t want to present people with a fait accompli if their test result does not arrive on time.”

Because there are currently negative travel advice for Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia, the Greek holiday islands of Crete, Kos and Rhodes are now extremely popular. And the tour operators want to keep it that way. “We see that repayment as an investment in the future,” says Van den Bergh.
