Tour de France teams expelled in case of two Covid cases detected

This is indicated in a document containing the health regulations that the ASO, organizer of the Grande Boucle, sent to the participating teams. The most salient rule is this: if two runners or members of the staff of the same team test positive or show obvious symptoms of the coronavirus, that team will be disqualified by prevention.

By this measure, the organizers of the Tour intend to demonstrate that they take the virus very seriously. The teams must imperatively stay in their own bubble during the three weeks of races. In addition, they will have very precise deadlines in order to properly monitor the health of runners and staff.

The objective is clear: “To protect the health of the riders, team personnel and other people involved in the Tour de France and to ensure that the event can continue”. All riders will also be tested twice before the Tour. If a cyclist (or member) tests positive before the race, the team in question still has the option of replacing infected individuals with healthy people until Saturday morning, August 29 at 10 a.m.
