Kimberley Le Court secured victory in the fifth stage of the Tour de France Femmes, crossing the finish line ahead of Demi vollering adn Anna van der Breggen. Katarzyna Niewiadoma finished fourth, with Pauline Ferrand-Prevot in fifth place. Dominika Włodarczyk concluded the stage in eleventh position.
The race saw an early breakaway group, including Barale, Jackson, Dijkstra, Soto Campos, and Brodie Chaman, establish a notable lead of nearly four minutes over the peloton with just over 60 kilometers remaining. Despite the peloton’s average speed of 45 km/h, the escapees maintained a significant advantage, though it began to shrink, reducing to three minutes after 10 kilometers. Alison Jackson further bolstered her points total by winning the Dun-Le-Palesel bonus sprint.
As the race approached the Cote de Chabannes, less than five kilometers later, the breakaway began the climb.Chaman crested the summit first, closely followed by Francesca barale, with Dijkstra and Campos trailing behind. By the 25-kilometer mark, on the Cote du Peyroux, the leading trio consisted of Chaman, Jackson, and barale.
Significant shifts occurred within the peloton. Chaman’s solo effort was eventually caught, with only a 10-second gap remaining. Elise Chabbey maintained her lead in the mountain classification.
In the final 10 kilometers, Katarzyna Niewiadoma was part of a 26-rider group at the front of the race. Earlier, she secured third place at the bonus sprint in Saint-Leger-de-Gueretois, with Kimberley Le court taking the win. Following this, a leading group of seven formed, comprising Le Court, Pauline Ferrand-Revot, Katarzyna Niewiadoma, Demi vollering, Anna Van der Breggen, Paulien Rooijakkers, and Sarah Gigante.
Niewiadoma then took the lead within this group, setting the pace. Ultimately, she finished the fifth stage in fourth place. The stage win went to kimberley Le Court, who outsprinted Demi Vollering and Anna Van der Breggen.Pauline Ferrand-Revot finished fifth.
