Toulouse provides the essentials for Racing, the French Stadium is giving itself some air

The Toulouse Stadium delivered a good performance this Saturday evening on the lawn of the U Arena in Nanterre. Winners (30-24) of a Racing at the crossroads, the Rouge et Noir seize the first place of the Top 14. For their part, the Racingmen can be satisfied to have been in the nails: with only two collective training sessions in the legs (the fault of a cluster in the locker room of the Ile-de-France club), the Ciel et Blancs probably already have their heads in Bristol, the theater next week for the Champions Cup final against the English of Exeter .

This Saturday, Toulouse crossed the Ile-de-France in-goal three times (Lebel, 10th; Kolbe, 24th; Holmes, 71st). But with a XV not yet complete, Laurent Travers’ men have twice been “in the promised land” (Taofifenua, 39th and Joseph, 44th). Enough to start a week of preparation on a good basis, as the Racing 92 players will fly to Corsica this Sunday morning, to prepare for the Champions Cup final in the best conditions.

Agen always on an empty stomach

Opposed to the French Stadium this Saturday afternoon during a multi-rugby reduced to two matches (the meeting between Castres and Brive having been canceled due to cases of Covid-19 among the Tarnais), the Agenais, who have took only one point in four days, resisted for 50 minutes against the club of the Capital. Parisians, who were looking for redemption after a last unconvincing performance, on October 2, against Bayonne (defeat 19-26).

In contact at half-time (3-6), the premises did not score a single point in the second period. Unfortunate, because at the same time, the French Stadium scored two tries (Nayacalevu, 53rd and Maestri, 80th), all transformed. Enough to ensure victory (3-20), the second of the season. Now 9th in a more than provisional ranking, the men in pink distance themselves from the red zone. An area in which the Agenais are well anchored (14th).

The match sheet

In Agen (Stade Armandie): Stade Français beats Agen 20-3 (half time: 6-3)

Montpellier supports Agen in the red zone

Another team in difficulty since the resumption, Montpellier, which moved this afternoon to Toulon. They too deprived of victory in their first two meetings, the Héraultais traveled full of ambitions to the harbor. Ambitions which were quickly undermined by the indiscipline of the MHR (two yellow cards in the 1st period), which then left a small mattress to the Red and Black (13-6 at the break).

The second act, more balanced, saw the Montpellier fighters until the end to take the four points of victory. Reinach (46th) then Rattez (52nd) scored one try each, putting Xavier Garbajosa’s men back on the right track. But the Hérault indiscipline still cost too much (4 penalties succeeded by Carbonel in the 50th, 62nd, 67th and 73rd).

Four points from the premises in the 75th minute, the MHR tried everything for everything. But the Toulon defensive line, after having been battered for a long time, ended up by doing it. For the greatest pleasure of a Mayol stadium far from being full but stocked despite everything. For their part, the Montpellier certainly leave with a defensive bonus point, but also and especially with a 13th place which could weigh in the heads of the players.

The match sheet

In Toulon (Stade Mayol): Toulon beats Montpellier 25 to 21 (half-time: 13-6)

Referee: Adrien Descottes

Dots:

Toulon : 1 try from Cordin (13th), 1 transformation Carbonel, 6 penalties from Carbonel (7th, 18th, 49th, 58th, 65th, 74th)

Montpellier : 2 tries from Reinach (47th), Rattez (53rd), 1 transformation from Bouthier (48th), 3 penalties from Bouthier (4th, 10th, 72nd)

Temporary exclusions:

Toulon : Villière (79th)

Montpellier : Guirado (17th), Tisseron (29th)
