Toulouse. “He could have been still alive”

An hour after being shot, he died. Saturday evening, at 8:40 p.m., in the Bellefontaine district in Toulouse, an undocumented foreigner was seriously injured after being shot. His blood runs on the asphalt and the passageways of the building at the foot of which the drama took place, on the Titian road. The victim died before he could be taken to hospital.

On social networks, some residents of the neighborhood accuse the emergency services of “not having acted quickly”. “Before seeing the SAMU, we had to wait several tens of minutes. If the emergency services had moved more quickly, he might still be alive,” says a resident. Another resident of the city confirms: “It took a long time for help to come. Everyone who witnessed the scene said so. It’s sad.”

Other residents of Bellefontaine say that “help could have arrived more quickly if they did not receive stones each time they come”.

Police provide first aid

The police, first on the scene, note that the victim is seriously affected. The police then provide him with first aid including cardiac massage.

Faced with the critical condition of the injured, the police did not hesitate to make a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. Affected by the femoral artery, the victim loses a lot of blood.

Once there, the SAMU team continued the efforts of the police. To intervene, the emergency services had to wait for the intervention perimeter to be secured by the police. “As soon as we had the green light, we intervened. Or 20 minutes after the call. We also had to come and take bags of blood, we knew we would need it”, indicates the SAMU before add that “the person who called was a little panicked and did not provide as much information as possible to optimize our intervention”. Despite all efforts, the victim died at 9:35 p.m.
