Tottenham-Fulham, on hold due to increase in Covid-19 cases

The party of the Premier League between Fulham and the Tottenham Hotspur Wednesday afternoon (15:00 Argentina), is at risk of being suspended after several people from the visiting team test positive for Covid-19. England’s league confirmed today that it has recorded the highest number of positive cases since the pandemic began, 18 in total. On this same date, the match between Everton and Manchester City had been suspended for the same reason.

The middle ‘The Athletic’ was able to obtain the information that some coronavirus tests in Fulham were positive and this would complicate the dispute of his match against Tottenham. ‘Cottagers’ coach Scott Parker missed his team’s final game against Southampton after a family member tested positive. The coach served the 10-day isolation and returned to training on Monday.

Last Tuesday the Premier League made the decision to have all clubs retested for Covid-19 twice a week due to an increased number of positive cases. The tests carried out between December 21 and 27 resulted in 18 positives among players and technical staff, with a total of 1,479 tests, which raised concern. All people who test positive isolate themselves.

This number of infected is the highest number recorded since the weekly tests began. As a background, this would be the third game suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak in England. The other two games were the clashes between Newcastle United and Manchester City respectively. Those led by Pep Guardiola reported four positive tests in their last tests which forced them to suspend their match against Everton at Goodison Park.
