(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Boin Jang = Tottenham, an English professional football team, who belonged to Son Heung-min (29), met Fulham, not Aston Villa on the 14th (Korean time).

Tottenham and Aston Villa were scheduled to play Round 18 of the English Premier League (EPL) in the 2020-2021 season at 5:15 am on the 14th, but the match was postponed due to a large number of corona19 confirmed cases in Aston Villa.

The EPL Secretariat announced on the 11th local time, “Aston Villa players and many of the staff are infected with Corona 19 or are in quarantine, and at the request of the club, we have decided to reschedule the Tottenham fight.”

According to the BBC, 14 people tested positive for Corona 19 last week in Aston Villa, and the training grounds are closed.

Due to the cancellation of the match against Aston Villa, Tottenham will play the postponed Fulham match ahead of the 14th.

Tottenham and Fulham were scheduled to play the EPL round 16 on December 31 of last year, but they were canceled 3 hours before the start of the game due to a large number of corona 19 confirmed cases in Fulham.

As the Tottenham-Fulham match was concluded, the EPL Secretariat decided to postpone the Chelsea-Fulham match, which was scheduled to be held on the 16th, on the 17th.

At EPL, 36 new corona19 cases have occurred in the past week. It looks like the spread in the league continues.

The EPL Secretariat said, “From the 4th to the 10th of this month, we conducted two corona19 diagnostic tests, and 36 out of 2593 EPL players and employees tested positive.”

The confirmed person is put into quarantine for 10 days.

Compared to the results of the previous round test (from December 3rd to the 3rd of this month), the number of confirmed cases was slightly reduced, but 36 is still not a small number.

EPL is conducting weekly COVID-19 tests on 20 former club players and employees in the 2020-2021 season, and the cumulative number of confirmed cases from EPL over 19 weeks is 207.
