Torchlight Frontiers completely changes structure and becomes Torchlight III – News

Unveiled in 2018, Torchlight Frontiers had waited until November 2019 to indicate that it would not be released in 2019 as announced. The studio had remained rather vague, evoking changes that were difficult to detail.

It is therefore at the end of January that things become clear for the game of Echtra Games: Torchlight Frontiers becomes Torchlight III, and the name change is not the only innovation. Indeed, as the studio indicates in an article posted on his official website, Torchlight III will not be a free to play, and will be released as a Premium game. More concretely, the title will be playable both online and solo, and once the price of the game has been paid by the players, they will have all the content provided. Therefore, lmicro-transactions are purely and simply abandoned. The developers also point out that:

Over the past year, we have garnered a massive amount of feedback from our alpha testers. After reviewing these comments, discussing with our internal teams, and receiving advice from our publisher, we have determined that this is the best solution for the game. This change helps to bring Torchlight back to its roots and makes it the true sequel to Torchlight. I & II, as it should always have been.
