ISTANBUL – Commemorations for turkey’s Victory Day on August 30th will bring a full day of free concerts and activities to Istanbul, alongside significant road closures throughout the city. Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly as celebrations unfold at Miniatürk, Topkapı Amphitheater, and other locations.
The annual observance marks the final battle in the Turkish War of Independence in 1922, culminating in the decisive victory at the Commander-in-Chief Battle. This year’s festivities offer a diverse program of entertainment, from illusion shows and zumba performances to hands-on workshops for children and families. The events are expected to draw large crowds, necessitating traffic restrictions to ensure public safety and facilitate smooth event operations.
Topkapı Amphitheater Schedule – August 30th: Festivities kick off with a series of performances throughout the afternoon and evening. A balloon folding show is scheduled for 16:00, followed by a zumba show at 17:15 and an illusion show at 18:30. The evening will conclude with a concert by Diamous at 19:00. Face painting,cotton candy,wafer,and nostalgic sugar will be available from 16:00 to 19:30.A mascot band team will perform at 17:00.
Miniatürk Schedule – August 30th: Miniatürk will host a range of activities geared towards families and children. Throughout the day, from 12:00 to 17:30, attendees can enjoy nostalgic sugar and cotton sugar. Workshops include a hat coloring workshop from 13:30 to 14:30, a victory kite activity from 15:00 to 16:00, and a republic cars painting session from 16:30 to 17:30. A hip hop show is planned for 17:30, followed by a flag workshop at 18:00 and a folk dance dance show at 18:30.Face painting will be available from 17:15 to 17:30.
Miniatürk Schedule – August 29th: On Friday, August 29th, Miniatürk will offer nostalgic sugar, cotton sugar, and face painting from 13:30 to 17:30. Workshops include an advanced change paper workshop from 13:30 to 14:30, a slime workshop from 15:00 to 16:00, and a cloth bag design session from 16:30 to 17:30.
Topkapı Amphitheater Schedule – August 29th: topkapı amphitheater will host an illusion show at 18:30, a mascot band team performance at 17:00, and face painting, cotton sugar, paper halva, and nostalgic sugar from 17:00 to 19:00. A zumba show is scheduled for 17:15, and a puppet show will take place at 17:45.
August 31st – Miniatürk: on Sunday, August 31st, Miniatürk will offer nostalgic sugar, cotton sugar, and face painting from 13:30 to 17:30. Workshops include a painting workshop from 13:30 to 14:30, a giant works collage workshop from 15:00 to 16:00, and a sculpture workshop from 16:30 to 17:30.
Road Closures: Istanbul authorities have announced temporary road closures in areas surrounding the event venues to manage traffic flow and ensure pedestrian safety.Specific closure details will be published by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and local traffic departments
