Top Markotop! RI Exports Warships to the Philippines

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaPT PAL Indonesia will export warships to Filipina. A sale and purchase agreement has been made between the BUMN and the Philippine Ministry of Defense (DND), Friday (6/24/2022).

The warships to be made are of different types Landing Platform Dock (LPD). It is an amphibious warship that launches, carries and lands ground force elements for fast-paced warfare missions.

“We, the ranks of PT PAL Indonesia, are proud to be able to contribute to national defense in ASEAN. At the same time, we appreciate the trust of the Philippine government, for the second time choosing PAL as a provider of marine defense equipment,” said PT PAL CMO, Willgo Zainar.

The company said this is the second time that exports have won. Previously, PT PAL had sent two Landing Dock units several years ago.

“In addition to the satisfactory product quality, one of the Filipino delegates who was met during a visit to PT PAL Indonesia some time ago said he was satisfied with the after sales services provided by PT PAL Indonesia,” wrote PT PAL in a press statement.

The Philippine warship is planned to be built in Surabaya. The initial design was 123 meters long, 21 meters high, and weighed 7,200 tons.

“This ship procurement accommodates the adjustment of the Philippines’ current DND needs with minor changes to the ship’s platform, as well as using the FFBNW scheme (Fitted For But Not With),” said the company again.

FFBNW refers to the necessary provisions allocated for future installation of special weapons systems.

“Later on, the LD ship is expected to be ready for duty until sea state 6, as well as the capability of operating ship facilities at sea state 4,” added PT PAL again referring to the size of the “malignancy” of the sea at a certain time.

“This LD will have a sailing speed of 13 knots and a maximum speed of 16 knots under full load conditions and has a cruising endurance of 30 days,” the company added.
