Nele Frisch held her own excellently at the Halle Thrower Days, which were heavily contested with international competition. With a new personal best of 56.21 meters, she finished seventh and was very satisfied that she had achieved her previously set goal of reaching the final with a good performance. Maximilian Neukirchen started nervously and therefore technically unclean in the shot put of the U18s. With 16.69 meters he was sixth in the top competition, but did not come close to his personal best of 17.19 meters.
Also traveling to more distant sports festivals were 800m sprinter Hannah Odendahl and 400m sprinter Tessa Srumf to compete against good competition. Unfortunately, not everything went according to plan for both athletes. At the 6th Long Night of Running in Karlsruhe, Odendahl inexplicably couldn’t do anything after 600 meters, so that the fourth of the youth indoor championships finished in 2:11.64 minutes. She was third in the U18 ranking. “You have days like that sometimes. It will definitely be better next time,” she said, disappointed but aggressive.
At the Flanders Cup in Lokeren, Belgium, Tessa Srumf made her season debut over the stadium round. In a top-class field, however, the Vice Junior Champion allowed herself to be tempted to run too fast with 25.3 seconds for the first 200 meters and had to pay tribute on the home stretch.

Coach Peter Quasten defended his athlete. “At the start of the season you simply don’t have the pace to stand such an early pace. That’s what this run was for, among other things. Things will look different in two weeks.” With 55.27 seconds, Srumf still won the junior class.
At the 4th Blade Sports Festival in Solingen, Felix Weidenhaupt started for the first time on his parade course, the 400 m hurdles. In 55.89 seconds he confidently won the U18 competition and just missed his best time (55.83 seconds). The 16-year-old then analyzed why it wasn’t faster right away: “When changing the rhythm between the fifth and sixth hurdles, I didn’t do enough frequency and therefore lost too much speed.”
