10th place: Pokémon Go
In mid-2016, the Pokémon shook the globe again 20 years after they first appeared. Feels like the whole world went outside to catch Pokémon with a cell phone outdoors. The madness had broken out, people gathered in droves and rushed like a mob as soon as someone saw a Dragoran. Others drove into the ditch by car because they wanted to land a fabulous curve ball at the wheel. Restaurants provided free drinks, but only to people who were on the same team as the owner. Newspapers, television, internet – in 2016 the Pokémon were represented in all media.
