Too few Belgians wash reusable mouth masks sufficiently

More than three out of five Belgians wash their mouth mask too little according to the recommended standard. This is evident from the results of the latest corona study published today by the University of Antwerp.

Just over 28 percent of the Belgians surveyed indicate that they wash their reusable mouth mask weekly. This can be read in the results of the most recent corona survey that the University of Antwerp conducted for the eighteenth time. About 25,000 fellow countrymen found their way into the study. Just under half preferred a disposable mask. A small majority opted for a reusable one. Of these, one in five reported washing the mask after each use. Another fifth reported throwing a reusable mask in the wash drum daily. For just over 17 percent of the respondents, this is every two days. About ten percent wash twice a week. Finally, six percent said they never wash their mask at all.

Federal guidelines state that a cloth mask is best washed daily. Just over sixty percent of the respondents wash their copy too little.

Changed society

Another part of the study dealt with the future vision of life after corona. A small minority believes that there will never be a vaccine and that the 1.5 meter society is here to stay. 66 percent of those questioned believe in the arrival of a vaccine, but do suspect that the recent crisis will bring about changes in our society and in our economic model. Women in particular appear to be convinced of this. Young men are more likely to believe that we will soon evolve back to the old.
