Brazilian driver Tony Kanaan has confirmed his intention to participate in the next race of the Indianapolis 500, which will be his 22nd participation in the IndyCar series.
The tour will begin on May 28 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (the Oval).
Kanaan, the winner of the 2013 race, has announced that he will participate in the 107th edition of the race during a live on Instagram.
“I’ll be there, I’m going to run,” he said.
The Brazilian indicated that he is trying to participate with the Ganassi team in the race for the 2023 season, after finishing with them the last race in third place, which is his best result since victory in 2013, and stressed that the plans of the team are still not defined for the race, especially as driver Jamie Johnson had previously stated that he will leave the team.
Kanaan continued: “If Johnson is not on the team behind the wheel of the fourth car, I may not be on the team, because he will be driving the fifth.”
He added: “I have a lot of options with other teams, and I talked to Ganassi’s team last week and told them that if it wasn’t done with you I will look for other teams and they said of course we understand.”
“They also told me that the important thing is where you can get a good result and we support your decisions.”
