Tomorrow, Jokowi flies to Central Kalimantan to check ‘giant’ food barns

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Thursday (8/10) is scheduled to visit Central Kalimantan (Central Kalimantan). Jokowi will kick off the food barn program.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media, Bey Machmuddin, explained that Jokowi is scheduled to make a working visit to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. He is scheduled to inspect the giant food barn or Food Estate.

“The president is scheduled for a working visit to Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan to review the Food Estate program,” he explained, Wednesday (7/10).


This is in line with the program to provide 30 thousand hectares of land in Pulang Pisau Regency, Central Kalimantan, which is the location of a giant food barn (food estate) which was completed in October 2020.

Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo said that the government has started working on these lands. The construction time is estimated at more than one month.

“Approximately 48 days, God willing, the land management has been completed,” said Syahrul, in a press conference after a limited meeting, Wednesday (23/9/2020).

At that time, the Minister of Agriculture, SYL, said that Jokowi would come to the location in the first week of October 2020 to check the work on the food estate. Jokowi, too, will lead himself kick off food estate in the area.

“I guess after kick off, 48 days after that, God willing, the planting will be completed for 30 thousand hectares. For example, to enter in 2021, around 80 thousand to approximately 164,598 hectares, “he said.

The Pulang Pisau area is indeed one area that is considered adequate. In fact, the government has prepared a fairly massive agricultural system tool.
