Tomorrow, BEM SI will again hold a demonstration against the Job Creation Act in front of the Palace

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM) (SI) plans to hold another demonstration on Friday (16/10/2020).

Central Coordinator WELL SIRemy Hastian said the action would be held at 13.00 WIB at the State Palace.

“At 13.00 WIB in front of the Palace,” Remy said via short message, Thursday (15/10/2020).

Remy said, BEM SI still urges the President to issue a Perppu to repeal the Work Creation Law (UU) that has been passed.

They also criticized the Government’s actions which were said to be trying to interfere with the movements and voices of the people against it Work Creation Act.

He added that BEM SI also condemned the repressive actions of the authorities against the masses who took the action.

Not only that, they also invited students from all over Indonesia to unite and submit their rejection of the Copyright Act, until the Act is repealed and repealed.

Previously it was reported that the DPR had passed the Job Creation Law on Monday, October 5, 2020. This resulted in rejection actions that occurred in various regions.

In the capital city, the protest action was marred by riots. Finally, a second wave of demonstrations was held on Tuesday (13/10/2020) at several points in Central Jakarta, namely the Arjuna Wiwaha Statue (Horse Statue), Harmony, and the State Palace.

Clashes with joint TNI-Polri officers guarding the demonstration were inevitable.

On 8 October, demonstrations that ended in chaos also took place. A number of public facilities such as Transjakarta bus stops and police posts were burned down by the masses.

As a result of this incident, the police have assigned 1,377 people in the two demonstrations.
